Personal commitment overcomes boundaries
Young people from different cultural backgrounds come together at Swiss vocational schools. This can result in positive experiences. However, it is not uncommon for negatively charged conflicts to dominate.
With its project, the Hirschmann Foundation set out to strengthen the positive powers in this field. The objective is to overcome cultural barriers in everyday coexistence, to overcome prejudices, language, and mental barriers.
The Foundation provides funds for both teacher-student and student-student projects. The main objective is active implementation and experiencing these projects together.
Examples
- Organisation and production of collective sports, drama or music events
- Producing videos or school newspapers together
- Internet project (interesting website for vocational students)
- Environmental work, e.g., cleaning brooks, rebuilding dry-stone walls or repairing hiking trails
- Educational week for learning about cultural customs
- Organising social events such as excursions for senior citizens or for the disabled.
- Running a soup kitchen
- Contributions of up to CHF 10,000 per project can be made.
