Youth engaged in debating

In the programme Youth engaged in debating, secondary level I and II students research current topics independently, gain an understanding of their social, economic, and ecological contexts and develop a multifaceted opinion. During the debate, they can represent their opinion competently, tolerate other opinions and reflect on their own opinion by engaging in a dialogue. As part of the Youth engaged in debating programme, these young people can demonstrate their debating skills in a national competition.

Promoting the programme in vocational schools with new approaches

With the funding provided by the Hirschmann Foundation, more young people in vocational schools will be able to benefit from the Youth engaged in debating programme. In order to achieve this, the programme will be established in inter-company courses (üK). Furthermore, YES would like to expand peer-to-peer learning by ensuring that the content is not taught by teachers but by former participants of the programme (YES alumni). The students will benefit from lessons given by YES alumni and learn the art of debating in a flexible and exciting way.

About YES

YES is a non-profit organisation that offers practice-oriented business and opinion education programmes for high schools in Switzerland. The objective is to link schools with practical experience. With these programmes, YES invests in our youth and thus in our future. Children and young people experience and discover our economy, recognise the social context and shape their own opinions. They also develop their own potential, network and find their own place in the professional world.
