BPN Foundation
The BPN (Business Professionals Network) Foundation, based in Switzerland, started operating in 1999 and is currently operational in 5 countries: Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Rwanda, Nicaragua, and Mongolia. They support small and medium-sized entrepreneurs in their partner countries with the goal of securing and creating long-term jobs and therefore contributing to the local economic development.
The objective is to help entrepreneurs be more professional and to increase their professional performance based on ethical values. BPN's vision is to maximise the potential of entrepreneurs in developing and emerging countries by empowering them to establish successful businesses.
The BPN programme
BPN offers a 2-year programme for freelancers who are willing to create a business plan, manage their finances and who are receptive to learning and professionalising their business. The programme includes in-depth business training, individual coaching, and a professional network.
By funding small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), sustainable jobs as well as a stable income will be provided and maintained, not only for the benefit of the entrepreneurs, but also for their employees and families. The anti-poverty approach is based on the principle that people are helping themselves.
The success proves this: During the BPN programme, the companies are on average able to double the number of jobs, to provide higher quality jobs and to increase their added value.
Funding for small entrepreneurs in Mongolia
The Hirschmann Foundation funds the BPN programme in Mongolia with CHF 50,000 per year. By doing so, it contributes to the promotion of local jobs and facilitates future-oriented prospects locally.
Since the programme was founded in 2012, BPN has supervised and supported more than 200 companies in Mongolia, provided 360 seminars and workshops for more than 4,700 participants and funded over 5,000 jobs.
The testimonial-videos available on the BPN website offer a striking insight regarding the impact of the programme.
